The strings of the series are wound from a stainless steel, totally free of nickel (allergic people will appreciate), but composed of 17% chrome. Chrome reacts with the oxygen in the air to form a protective layer - called the passive layer - of chrome oxide on the surface of the string, isolating it from the surrounding environment and preventing any form of alteration. Simply remove this transparent layer before playing, using a dry cloth, to restore the sound of your new strings for a longer period of time.
(Oily string treatment products are not recommended on Steel SKULLS - the oily nature of the product will embed the passive layer in the wraps of the winding, altering the sound of the string).
